Marielle is a visual storyteller with a passion for telling character-driven, environmental stories showcasing the relationship between humans and the natural world. Marielle graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2023 with a photojournalism degree and is currently based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Alongside her passion for storytelling, Marielle is a rock climber, backpacker, and a total geology and dendrology nerd. She has a Wilderness First Aid certification as well as an Open Water Scuba and Digital Underwater Photography certification. When she’s not photographing she’s most likely climbing mountains, drinking way too much coffee, or embracing her inner cat lady and knitting yet another beanie.

Marielle was chosen to volunteer at the 2023 Jackson Wild Summit and was awarded the 2023 NPPF Reid Blackburn Scholarship and the 2022 OWAA Bodie McDowell Scholarship. She’s completed a multimedia internship with the EPA in Annapolis, Md., and is currently interning with the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a member of the NPPA, Jackson Wild Collective, and Outdoor Writer’s American Association (OWAA).

Looking to the future, Marielle envisions a pursuit of her passion for telling stories of agriculture, ranching, climate change, and outdoor recreation. She enjoys collaborating with a team of creatives to tell long-form stories in video and photo. Her desire to implement change where needed and showcase the importance of the environment in all aspects of life is a driving force in her work.
